Atlantic Small Dog Rescue Dog show and expo - Sept 3, 2011

Brosa and I attended the ASDR dog show today - this is the first of what is sure to be an annual event and it was very successful!  Lots of vendors there; people who I've known for years and those also found at other dog-events such as this.

Here are some of our photos from today - pictures aren't great - had a shaky hand today!

Ann and Janet from Nova Scotia Lost Dog Network.  Animal Rescue Coalitions is to their left.

Brosa being cute!

Patches, a dalmatian mix who has been waiting a LONG time for her forever family!

Quinn, a recent rescue who was severely neglected and also a chained dog all of his life.  His body shows the hard life he has led up until now.  He is a sweetheart who will make someone's life whole some day in the future. :)

Spike, Eggie and Dottie, a few of Amanda L's crew, and models for her Tinydog Tailor's Dog Clothing creations!

There was a Tinydog Tailor's fashion show today, and Brosa was an honourary Tinydog... Here he is sporting a custom made "Support Our Troops" camo jacket made of fleece, with a velcro belly flap.  So handsome!  He'll be proud to wear this, this winter.

Our friend Pocket, the pittie, was there and they remembered each other.  Had a great wrassle!

Got some dehydrated liver treats from Crazy Dog (Shawna) and she gave us a frozen chicken foot too.  Brosa's not sure what to do with it... but I know a girl at home who is going to love it!

Stay away, you buggers!

Nom nom nom!  Gone in 3 minutes!

Kyleigh update August 30 2011

It has been about 2 weeks since Kyleigh was given a clean bill of health, and 1.5 weeks since her spay.  Kyleigh is just about adopted now - just some final things to put in place and she should be formally adopted at the end of the first week of September.

Here's a video that was taken Thursday, August 25 (6 days after spay) - so much for keeping her quiet for 2 weeks!  The video includes Tulip, a friend's Boston Terrier, who spent a week with us while his family was on vacation.

Weir Rockin' 2011

It's rare that I post a blog that isn't related to dogs (the Relay for Life being the only other times), however, I went to Weir Rockin' 2011 last night (Saturday, August 20, 2011).  It's an annual concert (5th year) in my neck of the woods that has featured Canadian artists each year (April Wine, Trooper, Chiliwack, Haywire, and Loverboy have played in the past).

This year, there was not one but FOUR favourite Canadian acts on the ticket for almost the same low price as previous years!  In order of appearance: Lee Aaron, Sass Jordan, Headpins & Honeymoon Suite.

Here is a playlist of 6 videos I took.  Enjoy!

Kyleigh's 2nd Birthday

Thanks to the vet records obtained from previous owners, I know Kyleigh's 2nd birthday was yesterday (August 5th).

First, she must wear our special birthday collar we have for these occasions!

Then, a trip to Three Dog Bakery to pick out some yummy treats (however, Kyleigh was quite nervous to go in the store and couldn't wait to get out of there despite all the delicious smells.  I think she's had too many trips to scary places - i.e. veterinary hospitals - in her short life time.  Needs to be shown that going places is fun!).  We visited our friend Donna and her chihuahua, Dexter before we went home.

We picked out 2 Boxer Brownies, Let 'em Eat Carrot Cake, and a Drooly Dream Bar.  We knew our friend Tulip, the Boston Terrier was coming by with his people to help us celebrate when we got home.

Tulip's boy, Oliver, bought bull-wrinkle chews for everyone at the pawty with his own allowance.  What a thoughtful boy!

After a while, we came inside to enjoy the yummy treats, as well as some rrrRRRibs cookies we picked up too.
KYLEIGH GETS THE DREAM BAR FIRST.  LOOK HOW MUCH BROSA AND DELTA WANT IT TOO!

TULIP HAS THE CARROT CAKE - KYLEIGH HAS APPROACHED BUT SHE STILL HAS HER BAR IN HER MOUTH, LOL!

EVERYONE ENJOYED THEIR SQUARES!

KYLEIGH WAS A LITTLE GLUTTON - STILL CHEWING ON HER SQUARE

KAYZEE CAME TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANYTHING FOR HER TOO!

Halifax Pride Parade - 2011

The morning forecast indicated highs of at least 27 degrees celcius, with the humidex feeling like 34 degrees.  Based on this, I decided to leave Brosa home from the parade.

My friends that I participated in the parade with did bring their pups though.  Before the parade even started, the infamous Halifax fog rolled in and the temperature dropped.  It stayed that way the rest of the afternoon, and rained a bit too!

Brosa would have had a blast, but I always say, better safe than sorry!

Here are a couple of doggy photos from the parade.

Kyleigh's mini-photo shoot

Kyleigh is doing so well, that she may be listed soon, to get the word out there for good applicants.  It will still be some time before she's ready to go, as she'll need a full health assessment as well as her spay, but never to early to get the word out!

So tonight, I took a few minutes with the *good* camera, to snap some shots for her listing.  I think these turned out nice!

I WAS TRYING TO GET HER CLOSER TO THE FLOWERS, BUT THIS STILL TURNED OUT NICE

OOPS!  FORGOT TO WIPE THE EYE BOOGER!
